Multi-Player
The lack of replay value can be made up through fighting human opponents. Myth III accommodates LAN play and a connection to the on-line GameSpy Arcade. The GameSpy connection is a breeze to set up and the Myth lobby is busy and well behaved. Game play is smooth with no technical problems this reviewer could see. Joining or hosting a battle is no problem. Multi-player battles come in fourteen flavors including "Capture the Flag," "Body Count," and "Balls on Parade." Alliances can be made and units traded. Hosts can set several parameters. This mode of play equates to a whole new game.
Conclusion
Myth III: The Wolf Age does not represent a spectacular advance in the series. Veterans of the previous games whose jaded tastes demand more play innovations will be disappointed. By the same token, players who just want more of the same and new players who haven't discovered the series yet should enjoy this latest edition. Aside from some uncomfortable interface problems, this game is most enjoyable and remains above the standard hack-and-slash. However, Mumbo Jumbo needs to become more creative next time; the competition is at their heels.
