How do players find opponents for multi-player Myth III?
Myth III multi-player uses GameSpy Arcade or LAN connections. TCP/IP by IP address is not offered. The interface via GameSpy is very similar to that offered on Bungie.net for the earlier games in the series - the GameSpy interface does not have to be used after a GameSpy account has been set up. The GameSpy account is free but requires an email address.
I find controlling the view with the mouse to be disorienting. The point of view keeps turning when I move the mouse
Go to the Options menu and try turning off the options "top corners rotate camera" and "bottom corners orbit camera." There are several other options to configure how the controls work to suit your tastes.
Sometimes during play I lose track of where my units are. How can I find them again quickly?
Press the H key to center the view on the currently-selected unit. Or, click on a location on the mini-map near the green dots which show where your units are - the view will instantly move to that location.
How long do battles take to play?
Fun quick multi-player battles can last as little as three minutes, for instance of the Last Man On The Hill game type. A typical multi-player game might last between six and twenty minutes, depending on the game type - usually a specific time limit is chosen, although it can be set very high. Battles against the computer (multi-player or not) are untimed and might take between seven and thirty minutes, depending on the mission and what the player(s) choose to do, and assuming they don't get wiped out sooner.
Is there a random battle generator?
No. However, the battles against the AI do play slightly differently each time, and fans of the earlier games have created thousands of maps and plug-ins for those games, and will surely continue making them for Myth III.
How big do the battles get?
Battles can involve over a hundred fighters on each side, or more.
